Stiff as a Stick

At the southern end of Maungmagan Beach, in a fishing village, the prepared catch is hung in the sun to dry for several days. The fish, which can be preserved in this way, can be better stored or processed in the tropical heat.

Unfortunately, the beaches of the fishing villages at the Andaman Sea are often very dirty, a lot of plastic is carelessly thrown onto the beach or into the sea. Fish leftovers cause a smell that needs getting used to.

The fish will then be offered at markets like this one in Ye | Myanmar
