Under fleeting light

At low tide on Eastbourne beach, the old wooden bollards that protect the coastline as breakwaters are visible. This morning, thick fog hangs over the English Channel, and the Victorian facades of the town are only vaguely visible on the horizon. Eastbourne, known as a seaside resort since the 19th century, thrives on its mix of classic coastal architecture, long beach promenades and proximity to the imposing cliffs of Beachy Head – a backdrop that retains its special charm even in the fog. | England

  1. Given the relentless advance of the sea, this very coastline will surely be in peril in the coming years. Unfortunately, this challenge is one we now face on a global scale.

A beautiful viewpoint that truly frames the village perfectly.
