A Breath of Light

Diffuse evening light settles over the port city of Mutrah. Although clouds and rain are usually rare in this region, winter brings with it an increased risk of tropical cyclones moving in from the Indian Ocean, which can cause heavy rainfall and flooding. There was heavy rainfall during the night, but the next morning was bright and sunny again.

Mutrah, one of the oldest districts of Oman's capital Muscat, is known for its traditional souk, the curved Corniche and the natural harbour, which has been an important trading centre for centuries. | Oman
