Brixham Blue Anchor Smoking Pub

Amidst fishing boats, seagull cries and the unmistakable scent of salt air and fish and chips, there is a pub in Brixham that doesn't care about trends – the Blue Anchor. Rather inconspicuous from the outside, but inside it's a little piece of living seafaring romance. Here, glasses clink, ale flows in honest tradition, and you get the feeling that the stories of the guests are almost as old as the wood panelling.

The Blue Anchor is not a trendy Instagram spot with latte art – thankfully. Instead, it offers a pint with real character and the odd regular who provides entertainment with a mixture of humour and local wisdom. So if you want to sample not only fresh fish but also the soul of Brixham, you should stop here for a beer. But be careful: the danger of staying longer than planned is at least as great as the next wave in the harbour. | England

  1. “der Hafen von Brixham ist bekannt dafür, durch den Victoria Wellenbrecher geschützt zu sein, was ihn zu einem ruhigen Ort macht, an dem man auch bei rauer See geschützt liegt”
