Poor airy living
High up in an inhospitable region of the Hindu Kush stands a boy on the roof of his parents' house. The small mountain village near Gulaki in Badakhshan province lives more quite than poorly from cattle farming. It is hard to imagine how the animals can find something to eat here, given the wasteland in the winter months, but from spring onwards the valleys and mountain slopes are green.
There is also a school for the village down in the valley, which was part of our rehabilitation programme in this region. | Afghanistan
