Levante & Poniente

One of Europe's largest wind energy producers is Spain: part of the hundreds of wind turbines in the hinterland of the Tarifa region.

The Poniente is the prevailing wind in Tarifa, to which Tarifa owes its pleasant temperatures in high summer.

The very strong easterly wind Levante is less common in Tarifa and normally it hardly exceeds 6-7 Beaufort. June and July are the months when it blows most frequently.

  1. But not everything is good… because wind turbines kill birds. We have not yet found the balance between energy production and the environment.
