Take a quick breath

The Lost Gardens of Heligan in Cornwall are among the most impressive historic gardens in England. At the end of the 19th century, they were a magnificent estate belonging to the Tremayne family, but fell into disrepair after the First World War. For decades, nature overgrew paths, greenhouses and exotic plantings – until an extensive restoration began in the 1990s. Today, visitors can wander for hours through mysterious jungle paths, Victorian vegetable gardens, romantic flower beds and artistically designed landscapes. | England

  1. Most modern gardens tend to rely too much on concrete instead of vegetation.
These older gardens are the opposite, and to me, they’re far more charming.
