Garden Day
The meadow knapweed (Sanguisorba hakusanensis), also known as lilac squirrel, is a guest in our garden. Its German name is misleading, as the flower resembles a bottle brush more than a knapweed. It is native to Japan and Korea, where it grows in damp meadows in full sun and in light shade at the edge of woodlands. Our insects are delighted with this guest from the Far East.
