The ancient volcano

View along the high-altitude hiking trail into the caldera of the long-extinct volcano on La Palma. The Caldera de Taburiente measures about nine kilometres in diameter and has a circumference of about 28 kilometres. Its lowest point is about 430 metres above sea level. The highest point of 2,426 metres above sea level is reached by the crater rim in the north with the highest point of La Palma, the Roque de los Muchachos. | Canaries
