Dog break

In a mountain village near Gulaki in Badakhshan province: In winter the cattle herds are in their stables and the herding dog can relax.

Dogs are important companions of the sheep and cattle herds. Herding dogs are born and grow up in a herd of cattle. The permanent proximity to farm animals and conspecifics is the basic requirement for their later use as herding protection dogs. Many guard dogs spend much time alone with the herd. They are largely independent of the herders and also unobserved. | Afghanistan

  1. I don’t know if there are wolves in Afghanistan, but around here, dogs in herds of goats and sheep are used exactly to protect the herd from attacks by wolves.
