The rattling tools

In the village of Char Gul Tepa, a Turkmen farmer shows me an ancient ginning machine that is still in operation. The device is a machine for ginning cotton, i.e. separating the cotton fibres from the kernels. An old diesel engine with a fat rubber belt then drives the machine when required. | Afghanistan

  1. I saw the photo and tried to figure out what machine it was. I wasn’t able to…
    I needed to read the text to understand, and even then, I didn’t know that cotton needed to be ginned.
    With this photo, I learned something new.
