The abandoned villages in Oman

The rural population of the Oman is increasingly attracted to the big cities such as Muscat, Nizwa or Sohar. The consequence are almost abandoned villages and fallow fields in the once busy valleys of Jebel Akhdar.

The people who move away, especially young people, seek their happiness in the cities, there is education, well-paid jobs and a more comfortable life. Mostly the elderly or a few who continue to look for happiness in the countryside are left behind.
