Guest speakers were chief editor Klaus Brinkbäumer, Federal Minister Ursula von der Leyen and first mayor of Hamburg Olaf Scholz.Im Großen Festsaal des Hamburger Rathauses wurde die siebzigjährige Geschichte des Nachrichtenmagazins SPIEGEL gewürdigt. Gastredner waren Chefredakteur Klaus Brinkbäumer, Bundesministerin Ursula von der Leyen und Erster Bürgermeister von Hamburg Olaf Scholz.
DER SPIEGEL appeared for the first time on 4 January 1947 in Hanover as successor to the magazine "This Week". Since the first edition, Rudolf Augstein has been editor-in-chief and editor of the magazine. In 1952, the publishing company relocated from Hanover to Hamburg
