Queen of Herbal Bouquets

Market in the coastal town of Finike: Traditional rural life still plays out at the weekly markets. Many of the sellers are farmers who bring their own produce from their villages or fields to the town. They sell what they have grown or harvested themselves – fresh vegetables, herbs and seasonal fruit. The elderly woman at the market in Finike is representative of many women in rural areas: with patience and experience, she prepares her goods, sorts herbs and makes sure that everything stays neat and fresh. Such markets are not only places of trade, but also of social life – meeting places where stories, news and a sense of community are shared. | Turkey

  1. Markets have always been such a vital part of town life.
And when a market fades away, a big part of a community’s soul and identity fades with it.
