In a foreign country

Brief thoughts on a dark time in a twisted country: Years ago, the Kunduz region was already deeply conservative and traditional, but many women and men were full of hope for change, women went to school, studied, could at least go out on the streets without a burqa, even if barriers and deep-rooted tradition still prevailed in the minds of many men.

And now the dark, gloomy and scary unimaginable has prevailed and covered the country like a dark curtain. What is coming, what will happen? I fear nothing promising. | Afghanistan
