The green fruity scent
Saturday morning in Finike: As soon as I enter the large market hall, I am enveloped by a bustling babble of voices mingling with the scent of fresh vegetables and spices. Traders loudly tout their wares, while customers carefully examine shiny tomatoes or tap on melons. The crowd slowly pushes its way through mountains of herbs, figs and olives, laughing, chatting and greeting each other warmly. One stall attracts customers with colourful pyramids of spices, another with fragrant flatbread fresh from the oven. I taste a sweet fig, pause briefly to listen to an elderly woman haggling, and then continue on my way. The bazaar is more than just a market – it is a meeting place, a stage and the heartbeat of everyday life in Finike, a place where you can experience the city at its most vibrant. | Turkey
