In Kabul, almost all the houses are behind walls, or rather this applies to the whole country. Religion, protection of women, security and climate are among the reasons for the walls. Behind them you can find such different courtyards and houses that it is always exciting to take a quick look inside. | Afghanistan

Protection of women is always one of the reasons mentioned. I keep thinking that in Muslim countries, men are all depraved (as if they were eternal teenagers) and are attacking women.
However, the idea of a house having an interior courtyard is something that I find beautiful.
