The minaret of the Koutoubia Mosque is the landmark of the city of Marrakech and the whole country. It is illuminated every evening and is still visible at a distance of 30 km. The mosque is the largest in Marrakesh. It dates from the 2nd half of the 12th century and is one of the oldest Islamic houses of prayer in Morocco.
