Myra: The rock festival!

Marvel at ancient ruins that have breathed history for thousands of years in the south of the country.

Myra Türkei Felsengräber

Myra was an ancient city in Lycia, in what is now southern Turkey. It was located near the present-day town of Demre and was particularly famous for its rock tombs, the well-preserved Roman theatre and the church of Saint Nicholas. In Roman and Byzantine times, Myra was an important city and religious centre. Today, it is one of the region's historically significant sights. Archaeological finds prove that the ruins of the city date back to the 5th century BC.

The amphitheatre of Myra, located in modern-day Turkey, dates back to the Roman Empire and is one of the largest and best-preserved theatres in Lycia. It has a semi-circular auditorium with 35 rows of seats and could accommodate around 10,000 spectators. The stage was richly decorated with reliefs. The theatre was restored several times after earthquakes. Today it is an important archaeological site and a popular tourist destination. | Turkey

    lohnenswert!
hat sich das Umfeld (Gewächshaus-Urwald) stark verändert?

    1. Da ich sowieso daran vorbeifuhr, wollte ich mir alles nochmals angucken. Sah aus wie beim letzten Mal, nur der Eintritt hatte sich verdreifacht, die Plastik-Plantagen waren damals auch schon da.
