The eternal Ali

Just outside Mirbat the mausoleum of Mohammed bin Ali al Alawi is definitely worth a visit.

Ali al Alawi immigrated from the South Yemeni Hadramaut and died here in 1161. Alawi is said to be a descendant of the son-in-law of the Prophet Mohammed. The sanctuary may only be entered by Muslims. A large cemetery adjoins the building. The gravestones are often only simple, weathered pieces of rock. They are typical for the prevailing Sunni direction of Islam | Oman
