Banana Mountain

Banana Mountain is located ten kilometers from Ye. The actual name of the monastery and pagoda complex is Ko Yin Lay. The complex was built 20 years ago after the villagers noticed how a practicing novice monk meditated here alone for weeks. At that time, the area was still a jungle and the locals swear that the now land stretched area looked like a banana mountain at that time.

Beside the lying Buddha under which there is a huge meditation hall, the four huge sitting Buddha figures are the main attraction. They point in all four directions and are placed around a square tower. The tower has nine floors full of bright Buddhist images and scenes from the Buddhist teachings. The view from above is worth the climb. | Myanmar
